Guides and answers for shooters, match directors, and administrators.

Getting started

How do I create an account?
Choose Create account on the landing page or go to the sign-up page. Register with an email and password, or use Continue with Google. You pick your language when you sign up and can change it later in your profile.
How do I sign in?
Use Sign in with your email and password, or Continue with Google. If you've forgotten your password, use the reset link on the sign-in page to receive a recovery email.
What is two-factor authentication and do I need it?
Two-factor authentication adds a one-time code from an authenticator app on top of your password. It's optional for shooters but required for match directors, board members, club admins, federation admins and platform admins; you're asked to set it up the first time you take on such a role. Set it up under Settings, then Security, where you can also trust a device for 90 days, see the devices you've trusted and generate recovery codes.
I've lost my authenticator app. How do I get back in?
Use one of the recovery codes you saved when you set up two-factor authentication; each code works once. If you are still signed in on a trusted device, generate new codes under Settings, then Security, straight away. If you have no codes and no trusted device, write to support@stageone.systems: a platform administrator verifies your identity before resetting two-factor authentication on your account, and you are emailed when it happens.
Can I use StageOne in Norwegian?
Yes. StageOne is fully bilingual in Norwegian and English. Toggle NO and EN in the top bar, or set your preferred language in your profile. Emails follow your saved preference.
Where do I see notifications, and what emails will I get?
The bell in the top bar shows unread notifications about matches, invitations, invoices and forum mentions, and the full list is under Notifications. StageOne sends no marketing email: every email is about your account, a match, an invoice or a forum thread you follow, and you can unsubscribe from individual threads. Match directors can check under Settings, then Notifications, whether preparation reminders reached their email address.
Can I download my data?
Yes. Under Settings, then Privacy and data, choose Download my data to receive a machine-readable copy of your profile, memberships, registrations, scores, invoices, notifications and equipment records. The same page lets you opt out of public Series Wrapped share cards and of being listed to other clubs in your federation’s member directory.
How do I delete my account and my data?
Open Settings, then Privacy and data, to request erasure. It takes effect immediately and can't be undone: your name, email, phone, address and date of birth are removed, and your results and invoices are kept without a link to your identity, as Norwegian bookkeeping law and the integrity of published results require. Erasure is refused while you are the only administrator of an organisation or the match director of a match in progress, so hand over first.

For shooters

How do I find a club or federation?
Use the search on the landing page, or open Clubs and federations in the app. You can browse federations and their affiliated clubs and open any organisation's public page, and the season calendar shows every public match by month.
How do I join a club?
Open the club's page and choose Join. Your request goes to the club's administrators for approval. You join federations the same way where direct membership is offered.
I received a membership invitation. What do I do?
Invitations only go to people who already have a StageOne account with that email address. You'll find the invitation in the email, in a banner on your dashboard and in the notification bell. Sign in with the invited address, review the membership and the annual fee, and accept or decline within 14 days. Accepting makes you an active member.
What are membership fees and how am I billed?
Clubs and federations set an annual membership fee. After you become a member, the organisation issues an invoice, due 14 days after issue and paid by bank transfer or, where the organisation has enabled it, by card or Vipps. You can view your invoices and download the PDF from your profile. If an invoice goes unpaid you receive reminders after 3, 7, 14 and 21 days, and after 30 days it is handed to the organisation to follow up. If you have saved a card and consented to future charges for that organisation, an overdue invoice may be charged to it automatically, at most three attempts; you can withdraw that consent from your profile at any time.
How do I register for a match?
Open the match page, choose your fee if there is more than one, pick a squad, and register. Prices can differ for members and non-members and can rise as the match approaches; the price you see when you register is the price you pay. Public matches are open to anyone. Members-only matches require an active membership in the hosting organisation, its federation or one of the federation's affiliated clubs. Private matches are visible only to the hosting organisation's match officials.
How do payments for matches work?
Every match with an entry fee collects it online through Stripe, by card or Vipps; StageOne doesn't support paying at the range. When you register you're sent to a secure checkout and your seat is held for 24 hours. If you don't pay in time the seat is released to the waitlist, and you can register again if there is room.
What does Register now, pay later mean?
Where it is offered, you can register without paying straight away. The registration is real but holds no seat: places keep going to shooters who pay, so if the match fills before you pay you may end up on the waitlist, and you pay the price valid at the moment you pay. Unpaid registrations are cancelled automatically once the match stops accepting payment, and you can cancel one yourself at no cost.
What happens if a match is full?
You can join the waitlist. If a confirmed shooter cancels, the next person on the waitlist is promoted automatically. On paid matches a promoted shooter receives an email with a payment link and 24 hours to complete checkout.
What are squads and can I change mine?
Squads are the relay groups that shoot together. Pick a squad when you register. Whether you can change it later is up to the match director: on most matches you can from the match page until a deadline, and the match director is notified of the move. Otherwise ask the match director, who can reassign you.
How does check-in work on match day?
If the match director has enabled self check-in, open the match page on the morning of the match and tap Check in inside the window they set. It tells the match director you've arrived, and after the window closes they can tighten the squads based on who has checked in. If self check-in isn't enabled, you are marked present at roll call.
Can I cancel my registration and get a refund?
Yes, from the match page while your registration is confirmed or on the waitlist. What is refunded depends on the match’s cancellation policy, counted from the match start: Flexible refunds 100 % if you cancel at least 24 hours before, Moderate refunds 90 % up to 7 days before and 80 % up to 3 days before, and Strict refunds nothing. The match director can also set a cancellation deadline after which you can no longer cancel yourself. Eligible refunds are issued automatically to the payment method you used, usually within minutes, and are calculated from the amount you actually paid.
A match director invited me to a match. What happens next?
A match invitation is a personal ask to take part. Open it from the email, your dashboard or the notification bell, and accept or decline. Accepting doesn't register you: you still register and pay on the match page like everyone else, and the invitation simply records that you were asked.
Where do I see results?
Once a match director publishes results, the match's Results page shows the standings, your score, the per-stage breakdown and a CSV export. You can also download a personal results card to share, compare your stages with other shooters, and use the replay to see how a different hit count would have placed you. Your recent results appear on your dashboard and profile.
Can I follow a match while it's being shot?
Yes, when the match director has live standings on, which is the default. Choose Follow live on the match page to see provisional standings refreshed every 30 seconds. Anyone can watch; viewers who aren't signed in see first names and countries only. Standings are provisional until the match director publishes the results.
What is a warning or a disqualification, and how does it show?
A range officer can issue a warning that zeroes your score on one stage; a second warning on the same match, or a disqualification by the match director, zeroes the whole match. You stay in the standings with zero points and a visible marker, on the results, the live standings and your public profile. Your recorded hits are kept, and a card can be reversed by the match director until the results are published. The written reason is visible only to the match officials.
How does classification (grade) work?
Federations group shooters into grades based on a classification score from your best results. Your current grade shows on your profile and dashboard. A federation administrator runs the recalculation, usually once a season, and it never lowers an existing grade. If you think your grade is wrong, contact your federation.
What is a series and how are standings calculated?
A series links several matches into a season-long competition. Your series total uses your best regular results, scored relative to each match winner, and the finale counts separately when the series is set up that way. The series page shows standings, your position and the best-of rule in use. When a series completes you get a personal Series Wrapped recap with shareable story cards; you can opt out of the public cards under Settings, then Privacy and data.
Can I get matches into my own calendar?
Yes. The season calendar at app.stageone.systems/calendar lists every public match month by month, with club, federation and series views, and each view has a Subscribe in your calendar button for Google Calendar, Apple Calendar or Outlook. Signed in, you can also subscribe to a personal feed of the matches you're registered for; that link is private to you and is managed under Settings, then Security.
Is there a digital membership card?
Yes. Under Membership card you'll find a card for each active membership, ready to save to your phone. Its QR code opens a verification page showing your name, organisation, federation member number and grade so an official can confirm your membership. You can turn the card off or renew its link at any time.
What can other people see about me?
Anyone, signed in or not, can see your public shooter profile: your name, profile picture, clubs and federations, federation member number, grade and published results, plus any sanction marker. Club member numbers, email, phone, address and date of birth are never public. Members of the same organisation can see your name, email and phone in its member directory so members can reach one another; you can hide yourself from other clubs in your federation's directory under Settings, then Privacy and data.
What are the Equipment and Reloading sections on my profile?
A private logbook for your own kit: firearms and the barrels fitted over their life, a round count per barrel, range sessions and, for reloaders, recipes, component lots, brass and ammunition batches. It is visible to nobody else on StageOne, serial numbers are stored encrypted, and StageOne doesn't validate or recommend any load data you enter.

For match directors

How do I become a match director?
If you're not part of a club, open your profile and request match-director (Stevneleder) status. A platform administrator reviews the request; on approval you get a personal host organisation so you can run matches on your own, and two-factor authentication becomes mandatory for your account. To receive entry fees you then connect a Stripe account from the Match payouts card on your profile.
How do I create a match?
From Matches choose Create a new match and follow the wizard: basic info, capacity and squads, stages, entry fees, and review. Only a few fields are required to save a draft; the rest can be filled in later from the manage dashboard. You can also clone an earlier match to start from its settings, and pick a preparation checklist template.
Can a match have more than one entry fee?
Yes. Add several fees, such as Standard, Junior or Late entry, and shooters choose one when registering. Every fee is at least 50 kr and is collected through Stripe. You can add fees at any time before the match is finished, even on match day, but a fee that a shooter has already registered with can no longer be edited or removed, and the last remaining fee can't be removed.
Can I offer early-bird or member prices?
Yes. On each fee you can add early-bird tiers with a cutoff date, so the price steps up automatically as the match approaches, and set a separate member price for active members of your organisation, its federation and the federation's clubs. Each shooter pays the price valid at the moment they register, and that price is what any refund is calculated from.
How do I manage a match on the day?
Open the match's Manage dashboard. It's organised in phases: Before match (settings, roll call, stages, squads, range officers, invitations, contact, files, sponsors and the checklist), Scoring (standard scoring, bulk scoring, printed score sheets and live progress) and Finish (publish results). The state bar moves the match through its lifecycle: open registration, start match day, complete, publish.
What is the match checklist?
A preparation checklist tied to the match date, with reminders by email and in the app until each task is done. Build reusable templates under My checklists and pick one when you create a match. A series owner can push mandatory tasks to every match in the series and see which matches are ready.
Can I invite specific shooters to my match?
Yes. From Before match, then Invitations, invite shooters by name or email. They get a notification and can accept or decline. An accepted invitation doesn't register them: they still register and pay on the match page, so the invitation records the ask and their answer.
Can I waive the entry fee for range officers and staff?
Yes. From Before match, then Range officers, grant a staff waiver before the person registers, either free or at a reduced fee of at least 50 kr, or comp the entry of someone who has already paid, which refunds them in full. Comped places do not count against the match capacity and never appear on a public surface.
What is roll call (Navneopprop)?
When you start the match day you land on roll call. Everyone is present by default; tap DNS for shooters who don't show. You can reverse a DNS as long as no scores have been entered for that shooter. If self check-in is enabled, roll call also shows who has checked in and suggests how to close gaps in the squads.
How does scoring work?
On the scoring screen you score one shooter at a time per stage and squad. Enter the hit count, and a tiebreaker time on the tiebreaker stage. Scores save optimistically and retry automatically if the connection drops, so it works on poor match-day signal. Bulk scoring lets you type in a whole squad’s stage at once.
What if there is no signal at the range?
Scores you enter are queued and retried automatically through short dropouts. For a range with no coverage at all, choose Print score sheet in the Scoring phase to take a paper sheet with you, then type it back in afterwards with Bulk scoring; the printed order and the bulk-entry order are identical.
How do I handle a warning or a disqualification?
A range officer assigned to the match can issue a warning, which zeroes that stage; a second warning escalates to a match disqualification automatically. Only the match director can disqualify directly or rescind a card, and both need two-factor authentication. Sanctioned shooters stay in the standings with zero points and a visible marker, their hits are kept, and the written reason is visible only to match officials.
How do I publish results?
From the Finish phase choose Publish results and confirm. Publishing is when standings become visible to shooters and feed into any series, so check the scores first. If you spot a scoring error afterwards, choose Reopen for corrections, fix the scores and publish again. A completed match that stays unpublished gets reminders, and the series owner is told.
How do I cancel a match?
From the manage dashboard choose Cancel match and give a reason; registered shooters are emailed and registration closes. Refunding is a separate step, Issue refunds, that returns the full amount to every paid shooter regardless of the cancellation policy and can't be undone. Shooters who withdrew before the cancellation keep what their policy gave them. A platform administrator can restore a cancelled match as long as refunds haven't been issued.
How do I attach my match to a series?
If your organisation or its federation owns the series, pick it in the wizard or on the manage dashboard. If you're an independent organiser, request attachment to a federation series from the manage dashboard and a federation admin approves it. A federation can also add your public match to its series directly.
How do I message the shooters on my match?
From Before match, then Contact, write a subject and message and send it to everyone registered, or only to paid, unpaid or waitlisted shooters; replies go to the address you choose. Your name and, if you add one, a phone number are shown on the public match page so shooters can reach you through the contact form.

For club administrators

How do I manage club members?
Open Club admin, then Members. You can approve or reject join requests, change a member's role, and remove members. Role changes and removals are recorded in the audit log.
How do I invite someone to the club?
Use Invite by email on the Members page. The person must already have a StageOne account with that address; otherwise ask them to sign up first. They receive an email, a dashboard banner and a notification, review the membership and fee, and have 14 days to accept. Until they accept they show as invited, not active.
How do I bill members?
Open Club admin, then Invoices, and trigger the annual member invoices. Each member gets a PDF invoice due in 14 days, paid by bank transfer or, if Stripe collection is on, by card or Vipps. From the same page you mark bank-transfer invoices as paid, send reminders, issue a credit note to reverse an invoice, refund a card payment and export a reconciliation CSV for the accounts.
What happens when a member doesn't pay?
Unpaid invoices are chased automatically: reminders at 3, 7, 14 and 21 days past the due date, and after 30 days the invoice is parked and the club's administrators are notified to follow up manually. Members who have saved a card and consented get up to three automatic charge attempts along the way. StageOne charges no interest or late fees and never suspends a membership for non-payment; that stays the club's decision. Club admin, then Settings, shows the reminder ladder in force.
How do I receive card payments?
Connect a Stripe account from Club admin, then Settings, using the Stripe Connect card; a step-by-step guide sits inside the card. Stripe verifies the club (organisation number, a representative's identity and the bank account), usually within minutes, sometimes a day or two. Once payouts are enabled you turn on Stripe collection: members can then pay invoices by card and matches with an entry fee can open for registration. Funds land in the club's own Stripe account, and the fees you pay are shown before you enable it.
What can I configure for the club?
In Club admin, then Settings, you can edit the club name, logo, website, description, contact and address details and bank account, and manage Stripe collection and the reminder ladder for invoices. Name, logo and contact details appear on your public club page and on invoices.
Does the club have a forum?
Yes. Every club and federation has a forum, under Forum in the menu, with messages that reach all members, and open discussions. Members can attach images and PDFs and mention each other with @, which sends a notification. Administrators can pin, hide and delete posts.
What is the Governance section?
Under Club admin, then Governance, you record the board and committees, upload documents such as statutes, notices, agendas, minutes and accounts for a public, members-only or board-only audience, and log annual, extraordinary and board meetings. Board members' names appear on the club's public page. Holding an office is a record of fact and grants no access on StageOne; access comes from roles on the Members page.
What does StageOne cost the club?
StageOne is paid two ways. On match entry fees it may take a percentage, shown in Club admin, then Settings, before you enable Stripe collection; for clubs in a federation the federation's rate applies, and it can be zero. Federations and independent clubs also receive an annual platform invoice from StageOne, paid by bank transfer within 14 days; clubs affiliated to a federation are covered by the federation's invoice. Member invoices carry no platform fee.

For federation administrators

How do I affiliate clubs to my federation?
Open Federation admin, then Clubs, and add clubs by search. Affiliated clubs roll up into your federation for series, classification, member pricing and optional on-behalf invoicing. You can unaffiliate a club once its invoices are settled.
How do I create and run a series?
In Federation admin, then Series, create a series and add matches from your federation and affiliated clubs, or accept an independent organiser's request to attach. You can set qualification criteria such as a minimum number of participants or stages, choose whether the finale counts separately, and push a mandatory preparation checklist to every match. When the series completes, shooters get their Series Wrapped recap.
How do I set up the grade ladder?
In Federation admin, then Grades, define your grades and their score thresholds. The editor lets you reorder grades, and thresholds must decrease from the top grade down. Until you have enough results to recalculate, you can assign grades in bulk by hand.
How does grade recalculation work?
Run a recalculation from Federation admin, then Classification. It assigns each shooter a grade from their best results, including imported historical results, and never downgrades automatically. The run is blocked while a series is active unless you force it. You can note the date of the next planned run for your own reference, but StageOne does not run it for you.
Can the federation invoice club members directly?
Yes. Enable on-behalf invoicing on the federation, then trigger member invoices for each affiliated club. The federation becomes the issuer and creditor of one merged invoice per member with the club fees and the federation levy, is paid directly to its own bank or Stripe account, and remits the club fees off-platform. Refunds and credit notes are then the federation's to issue.

Payments and privacy

Is paying by card safe?
Card and Vipps payments run through Stripe, and StageOne never stores your card details. Organisations collect through their own connected Stripe accounts, and EU data residency is respected.
Who pays the card fees?
Shooters and members pay exactly the amount shown. Stripe's processing fee is charged to the organisation receiving the money, together with any StageOne percentage on entry fees; the exact figures appear in the organisation's payment settings. For some organisations StageOne covers the Stripe fee out of its own percentage.
How do refunds work in general?
Each match sets its own cancellation policy, counted from the match start: Flexible refunds 100 % up to 24 hours before, Moderate refunds 90 % up to 7 days before and 80 % up to 3 days before, and Strict refunds nothing. If the organiser cancels the match, every paid shooter is refunded in full. Refunds go back to the payment method used and are issued automatically, usually within minutes; bank-transfer invoices are refunded by the organisation directly.
What if I dispute a payment with my bank?
Cancel through StageOne first, so the cancellation policy applies. If you charge back a match payment through your bank, your registration is flagged to the match director but not cancelled; the organisation is debited the amount plus the card network's dispute fee, and your bank decides the outcome. Using a chargeback in place of the cancellation policy is a breach of the terms of service.
How does StageOne handle my personal data?
StageOne is built for GDPR: all data is hosted in the EU, personal data is pseudonymised on erasure, and administrators only see what their role needs. You can download your data or request erasure at any time under Settings, then Privacy and data. The privacy policy, linked in the footer, describes every category of data, who processes it and how long it is kept.
I still need help. How do I contact you?
